Design Management is a business program for the creative industries.

It is about helping businesses become creative, managing the creative process and maximizing creative capital. This is a multidisciplinary program for students who want to work in a design environment managing the creative process. Students will choose two different studio concentrations, and all students complete sequences of business and management classes.

 


• The Young and The Restless: How Portland Competes for Talent Portland is experiencing a positive demographic change which has the potential to boost the growth of not only creative services, but the city’s overall competitive advantage. That change is documented in a 2004 study.

Creative Services Industry in Portland by The Portland Development Commission. The most needed skills in Portland are embodied in The Art Institute of Portland’s Design Management program.

PAVE's 16th Annual 
Student Design Competition 
Challenges Now Available!

PAVE is pleased to announce that the design challenges for the 16th annual Student Design Competition, sponsored by Godiva Chocolatier Inc., are now available.

Now in its 16th year, the competition is geared toward college-level students who are involved in retail planning, visual merchandising, store design, and branding programs.

Entries must be received at Godiva Chocolatier Inc. by Nov. 3, 2010.

 

Accepting Applications
 for the PAVE Helping Hand Fund

PAVE is now accepting applications for the 2010
Helping Hand Fund. The Fund provides grant funds to accredited two- and four-year   educational institutions to enhance the quality of programs and services for students entering into careers in the retail design and planning and visual merchandising       industries. 

Grant award amounts will be based on the size and scope of the program for which the applicant requests funding. For details, please visit here.

To qualify, schools must have at least three students participating in the 2010 Student Design Competition.

Applications must be received by Oct. 30, 2010.

 

PAVE is continuing the Student Aid Program in recognition of the need to assist students with funds to cover basic needs. Special funds are available to assist students who are experiencing financial difficulties that may impact their ability to continue their schooling. 

Students interested in applying for special financial assistance should review the guidelines and submit a completed application, with supporting documentation, to PAVE to be received by Oct. 1, 2010.

PAVE asks that educators communicate this new PAVE program with students who are eligible for assistance. For complete guidelines, an application form and entry requirements, please click here.

About PAVE

Founded in 1992, The Planning and Visual Education Partnership's (PAVE) objective is to support students studying in the field of retail design and planning and visual merchandising through its annual Student Design Competition. PAVE also seeks to encourage retail management, store planners, visual merchandisers, architects and manufacturers to interact with and support design students. This is accomplished through projects, seminars, workshops, and the annual fundraising Gala with proceeds dedicated to educational programs and projects benefiting students.PAVE is a 501(c)(3) educational foundation administered by the Association for Retail Environments (A.R.E.), formerly NASFM.
